A SIS hit can affect people who are not the person actually meant. Same names, aliases, transliteration, old spellings or incorrect attribution can suddenly create an obstacle at a border, consulate or authority.
This article is narrower than the general articles on SIS access and deletion. It deals with possible identity mix-up, not the situation where the right person hopes a new passport will make the measure disappear.
Access, identity evidence, correction and jurisdiction of the issuing state must be separated. An Austrian lawyer cannot directly delete every foreign alert, but the right route can be prepared.
